Red granite, and where it comes from
Tianshan Imperial Red is the best-known red granite. It is also not Indian.

Chinese Imperial Red, quarried in Xinjiang and sold as Tianshan Red, is the red granite most buyers name first: a deep red ground with large dark grains over a bluish-brown base. Red carries associations of success across several markets, which is part of why it travels so well.
Indian red granites are a different proposition. Multi Red runs several shades of red through a single slab with white, grey and black flecking, and it is quarried much closer to our plant — which shows in both the lead time and the landed cost.
If a drawing specifies Imperial Red, it is worth sending a Multi Red sample alongside the quote. The two are not interchangeable, but the comparison is usually welcome.
